How do you kill something that’s already dead?

On a night with no moon, inside a dark cave, a Shonawah medicine man created a portal to the world of evil spirits. From it he conjured Shakani. He commanded it to destroy the invading white man, but instead it turned on their village and stole the soul of everyone in its path.

Decades later, just after striking it rich, miners stumbled onto the cave and accidentally let Shakani loose. It took the souls of half the town in one moonless night. People said it was a plague, but the Shonawah knew the truth. After the disaster, the sheriff and a Shonawah medicine man sealed up the Lucky Star mine with chains and blood.

Opaco Valley soon became a ghost town. And Shakani, inside the old Lucky Star mine was left undisturbed, until now.
